Aftercare Services Case Manager
Looking for a fun, energetic team to serve formerly homeless families? Join our Team at Bethany House Services. We are looking for an individual who will be responsible for providing professional services which includes case management, connection to community resources, crisis intervention and connection to emergency financial assistance to families that have exited the homeless services system, whether this exit is directly from Shelter Diversion, Emergency Shelter, or from a supportive housing program. Aftercare services are intended to help families maintain/stabilize in housing and reduce rates of return to homelessness by improving self-sufficiency; achieving financial stability by ensuring income is sufficient to meet financial obligations and reducing trauma and increasing trauma symptom management skills.
The most successful candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related field, with a minimum of two years’ experience working with homeless individuals and other disadvantaged populations in crisis Master’s Degree a plus. A LSW license is a plus; clinical supervision toward licensure is available
Emergency Shelter Cook
The Shelter Cook provides full range of culinary duties to safely accommodate sheltered homeless families. Primarily responsible for meal planning, stock, and general meal preparation duties. These duties include ensuring the safety/confidentiality of clients; Planning and preparing shelter meals Monday – Thursday from noon – 7:00 p.m.; insuring appropriate levels of stock/groceries for in advance of meals; submits plans to supervisors for weekly meal preparation; shop for groceries/kitchen stock as needed; Keep accurate documentation of temperature and menu track logs; ensure items are being stored and rotated per established procedures; maintains federal food program; maintains volunteer meal program and stats; responsible for insuring federal guidelines are followed; maintain kitchen and food storage areas; responsible to insure all food and safe-handling regulations are followed; cleans kitchen and stock areas and provide crisis intervention, intake, and assessment services to clients.
The most successful candidate should have a High School degree or equivalent; knowledge and skills at a level typically acquired through completion of an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts or one to two years’ experience; experience in working with the homeless population is a plus; must have knowledge of State of Ohio and Federal guidelines and requirements for safe handling of food and food storage; skill in using PC equipment, Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to handle sensitive information and maintain high level of confidentiality and ability to work under highly stressful, crisis-oriented situations
On-Call Shelter Assistant
You will work alongside other Social Service Workers to meet the needs of our clients. These positions are for 16 hours per week and are for 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift including weekends. You will be responsible for general operations of shelter to ensure safety and hospitality of clients/volunteers/staff; provide tours of the shelter when clients arrive; assist in ensuring that all volunteers are utilized while at the shelter; follow all procedures as set forth by the Shelter Director; oversee shelter’s inventory of material needs and provide weekly needs list to Shelter Director.
The most successful candidates will have a High School Diploma and a valid driver’s license
Shelter – Child Care Workers
Interested in joining the team at the Emergency Shelter of Bethany House Services? Interested in a part-time job with a passion? We are looking for two new Child Care Workers to oversee the children while their parents are taking life skills classes.
You will work alongside other Social Service Workers to meet the needs of our clients. The hours are Monday – Thursday from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00p.m.
Job duties include:
- Observe and monitor children’s play activities.
- Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered.
- Follow all procedures as set forth by the Shelter Director.
- Instruct children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
- Read to children, and teach them simple painting, drawing, handicrafts, and songs.
- Organize and participate in recreational activities, such as games.
- Sanitize toys and play area.
- Oversee shelter’s inventory of material needs and provide weekly needs list to Child/Parent Coordinator.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience working with the homeless a plus!
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Effective listening skills
- Good judgment so you can respond to emergencies or difficult situations.
- Good instructional skills to be able to explain things in terms that young children can understand.
- Interpersonal skills to work well with people
- Patience to be able to respond calmly to overwhelming and difficult situations.
- Physical stamina – lots of energy
Part Time Grant Assistant
As a Part Time Grant Assistant, you will support the Grant Coordinator. You will work across agency departments to coordinate, compile and update programmatic data; assist with data collection and data entry; conduct research and work with staff to gather client, organizational and industry statistics for use in grants
and collaborate with program staff to assist with development of Continuous Quality Improvement protocols for all departments. More specifically, you will coordinate internally with staff to assemble program and financial data for grant applications and reports; assist with the generation of data reports for grants; maintain files of proposals, reports, and stewardship materials; maintain the grant office – file grant proposals, applications, research, etc.; assist in the preparation of grant proposals; assist in preparing grant reports for Executive Director and Board of Directors as needed.
You must be working towards a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 1-2 years’ work experience in a related field; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong proofreading and editing skills; Experience with Statistical package desired (i.e. SPSS); Experience with VESTA is a plus; Experience with Microsoft Suite including Excel and Access; Raiser’s Edge is a plus; and impeccable attention to detail.
