Volunteers are the heart of Bethany House. Donating your time and talent helps provide hope and stability to women, children, and families who are rebuilding their lives.

Is there an age requirement?
  • Cafeteria: Volunteers must be 12 or older.
  • Meal Service: Volunteers 15 and older may serve meals with parental consent.
  • Kids’ Zone (KZ): Volunteers must be 15 and older and have parental consent.
  • Special Events (No Alcohol): Volunteers must be 18 or older.
  • Special Events (Alcohol Served): Volunteers must be 21 or older.
  • Other Projects: The Volunteer Coordinator will use discretion based on the nature of the activity. If the project is part of a class supervised by adults, the Volunteer Coordinator will also use their judgment.
Can I volunteer at BHS for school community service requirements? 

Yes! Students may volunteer to fulfill school community service requirements. Minors must have a parent sign a consent form.

Do I need to get a background check?

Yes, a background check is required. This will be discussed and assessed during the initial interview.

Am I allowed to volunteer if I used to work or live at Bethany House?

Yes, individuals who previously lived or worked at Bethany House may volunteer after one year of exiting the shelter, depending on the circumstances of their departure.
