Helping families avoid shelter by keeping them in their homes or quickly finding a new place to live is an important and cost-effective strategy. Bethany House administers four different programs–and operates one housing unit–that prevent families from becoming homeless.

Shelter Diversion
This prevention program guides families on the edge of homelessness toward stable housing solutions. With tailored case management and short-term financial support for up to six months, families quickly find a new place to live and bypass emergency shelter altogether.
KEYS
Bethany House, in partnership with Lighthouse Youth Services and Found House, provides supportive housing for parenting and pregnant young adults (ages 18–24). This program offers rental assistance and wraparound services for up to 24 months, followed by extended Aftercare support for three more years.
Impact Award Program
As part of a city-funded coalition, Bethany House is using predictive analytics and coordinated outreach to stop homelessness before it happens. We offer proactive support like case management, one-time financial assistance, and landlord engagement to families at high risk of eviction.
Aftercare
Families who have exited shelter, prevention, or housing programs can access the Aftercare program if they find themselves on the edge of homelessness again. They receive ongoing case management and limited financial assistance to help prevent a return to homelessness and maintain long-term housing stability.
Bethany Homes
Bethany House owns and operates Bethany Homes, a 24-unit building with two and three-bedroom apartments in the Westwood neighborhood of Cincinnati. Bethany Homes offers affordable rents for families and provides family-friendly amenities. The best form of homelessness prevention is quality housing with affordable rents!
