India’s Journey to Stability
When India came to Bethany House, she was at a crossroads. Pregnant, recently unemployed, and with an eviction on her record, she had no plan for herself or her young son, Nasir. The future looked uncertain.
Through Bethany House’s Shelter Diversion Program, India found more than a temporary fix—she found a path forward. The program helps families avoid shelter by securing safe housing and building long-term stability.
India’s case manager worked with her to set goals and overcome barriers. India dreamed of becoming a surgical technician, so she enrolled in online classes at Cincinnati State. Meanwhile, she worked two jobs, stuck to a budget, and saved $700 toward housing. With her case manager’s help, she soon secured an apartment, giving her and Nasir a safe place to call home.
That stability transformed her life. Free from housing worries, she earned a 3.0 GPA her first semester. Today, she continues her studies, supports Nasir, and looks toward a secure future with confidence and gratitude.
